Apple Charger with C7 Figure‑8 Power Cord

When speaking to my friends Keir and Craig, I just found out that a lot of people don’t know that you can use a “C7 figure‑8 power cord” with any Apple power adapter in case you forgot your travel adapter.

Side-by-side comparison of a white power adapter on a dark surface. On the left, the adapter is shown without a plug attached, revealing the socket, next to a disconnected figure-8 power cable. On the right, the same adapter is shown with the figure-8 cable plugged in.

Way cheaper to get one of those usually than a full travel adapter (hint: often times even free if you borrow your hotel’s TV cable 🫣)

there used to be quite a few people selling duck heads from different countries on eBay, so you could just replace that.

This is how we created the ultimate phone charger with a 15' figure eight cable. You can now charge your phone no matter how far away from the outlet you are.

That metal stud on the left can be attached to earth ground to eliminate leakage current also (two prong adapters just cover it with plastic but three prong adapters use it)

Side note: you can get a GaN charger that’s like half the size and third of the weight, rather than lugging around Apple’s brick.

But not the other way around though, because Apple’s version has the notch cut on one side only.
